Miehet päivänvalossa

Miehet päivänvalossa (Men in Daylight )is a documentary play written in 2024 about forced mobilization. It tells the story of men who cannot and do not want to go to war.

Iryna Serebriakova’s documentary plays are currently gaining strong recognition across Europe. Men in Daylight has been performed in Germany, Sweden, Spain, and Poland.

The play is an honest study of men and their emotions in a country where tens of thousands of people are dying, being wounded, and losing their arms, legs, and futures.

Ukrainian society is deeply divided — some want to fight, others do not. The play focuses on those who refuse to go to war, and brings forward things that cannot be said aloud.

Iryna Serebriakova is a Ukrainian playwright, translator, and author born in 1988 in Crimea. She has translated more than 20 works from French and English into Ukrainian and Russian, including Philip K. Dick’s The Divine Invasion and Agota Kristof’s The Notebook.
